I recently watched a video on Facebook about a woman in the UK who actually knits breasts! This woman knits about 300 knockers every month! She creates and donates the knockers for women who have suffered from breast cancer, had a mastectomy, but do not want implants. There are a variety of sizes and fiber contents to make women comfortable no matter the season. Knitted Knocker Organizations exist around the world including one located in the United States.
A Way to Give Back
After realizing there is a United States organization, I would love to knit and donate a pair using our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece since it is now spring and warmer weather is coming up. The Cotton Fleece material would be perfect for the sunny weather because of its high cotton content. I will be signing up through their website and knit a pair using HiyaHiya Bamboo Double Pointed Needles.
I have a good friend whose mother went through a mastectomy and I will be knitting a pair for her. I would say we all personally know or know of, a brave woman who has fought breast cancer and won. Join me in helping this organization and support the women who have lost their breasts to cancer. Click here to sign up to donate and start knitting for a beautiful cause.
