Easter is around the corner and is Spring coming with it. We’ve brain stormed some awesome ideas for your Easter projects and you’ve got plenty of time to finish all or some of them.

 

Looking for an Easter basket that won’t break, and can be cleaned? Try felting one!

Fiber Trends Not Just for Easter Basket Pattern

Fiber Trends pattern FT232 Not just for Easter Baskets by Design by Megan Jacobson designed a lovely pattern for felted baskets, with options for not just Easter in mind. Knitted and felted, these baskets are super cute and customizable, knit with stripes of different colors or all one color, they are perfect and made with springtime love. Grandparents this lovely basket won’t break when shipping and holds more than enough goodies for any Easter morning.

Yarn Requirements: Use a DK weight yarn that felts easily. The pattern calls for a Dk weight yarn but we’ve seen it made with a light worsted yarn that felts easily can comes out lovely.

Our suggestions include: Worsted: Cascade Yarn 220 Paintes Peruvian wool yarn with some lovely transitional pastels and spring colors, or Cascades Heathers– Just remember NO Superwash! It’s going to be felted!

The sizes of the baskets will vary with the amount you felt, the more you felt the smaller the basket will be. The baskets shown measure 8 inches across at the base and 3.5 inches deep or 11 inches to the top of the handle.

  • Approx. Yardage: 270-290 yards
  • Needles: US size 11 (8mm) in a 16″ (40cm) circular and a set of double points. 1 spare, smaller 16″ (40cm) circular.
  • Other Supplies: 2 yards of lawn trimmer line, cut into 24″ (60cm) lengths. (Photos used .065 gauge line it adds some structure to your handle.)

Looking for an Easter project for any age? Maybe for the person in our life that has a harder time getting up (ourselves)? The perfect project for those late start morning that we need a little more hop in our step… Bunny Slippers!

The Tiny owl Hopsalots Kit– a Super-fast and cute project! What bedroom is complete without a pair of bunny slippers and what Easter is complete without some bunnies!

Sara taught a class on these slippers at the shop and each student had one slipper knit at the end of the 3 hour class, great project for holiday gifts! Most people reported finished them in a weekend from cast-on to felting.

Requires: 1 skein of 8 Ply Wool Pak Yarn (DK Weight) pictured is the Mist color. DK weight 100% wool held doubled, tapestry needle, stitch markers, scraps of red & black 4-ply yarn for eyes and nose, scraps of white angora for pom-pom tails, needle & thread.

  • Gauge: 12 sts and 16 rows to measure 4 x43/4 in St stitch using US 11 or 8mm needles with DK wool held doubled.
  • Sizes: Small US 5-6,” (Medium US 7-8), (Large US 9-10)
  • Needles: US 11 (8 mm) needles 10.75 long straight (or circ.)
