Knitters have long known the healing effects of their handy work.  Once you get the hang of this activity, it is quite relaxing.  The feeling of having a strand of silky, superfine merino blended with cashmere pass through your fingers as you create something for a loved one is amazing.  With all of these benefits, we have partnered with Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital to host a Knit for Kids.  Not a knitter or crocheter?  Not a problem!

Using your skill to give back to the community is a great way to increase the joy you feel from knitting.  Paradise Fibers will be accepting donations of hats of any size for children age newborn to 16 yrs + now, through Friday, March 31st.  So get out your needles and hooks and cast on a project to give back to your community.  Everyone who participates will be entered in a drawing to win one of three gift cards worth $50 at Paradise Fibers.  Each finished project will get you one entry in the drawing.  All donations must be received by Friday, March 31st for entry in the drawing.  All donations are to be dropped off or mailed to Paradise Fibers and we will deliver the finished donations to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital after Friday, March 31st.

Here are some great pattern ideas to get you started:

Shop the Knit for Kids yarn collection

When choosing a yarn for this project we would suggest keeping it soft, snuggly and machine washable.  Also, don’t shy away from color, kids love color!  Here are some great yarns we would suggest:

Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino is a delightful yarn to work with and an amazing yarn to wear.  There are so many colors to choose from and it is machine washable.  Check out the Tonal version of this great yarn for a little more variation in your project.  Ella Rae has some great yarn options for these projects.  The Cozy Soft Prints have some great bright colors and the solid range would compliment it nicely. The Cozy Soft if also available in a Chunky weight.  The Seasons yarn is a great self-striping option.
